How to Efficiently Re-spec Tuesday, April 07, 2009
7:55 PM

I posted this in wowhead Druid forum earlier. Enjoy.

------------------------
With the dual spec feature coming out in 3.1, this will be a moot point. But until then, I figure I’ll share with you what little I know about it. If you re-spec often then you’ll most likely hate the hassle and the peer pressure. You have to spend time away from your raid or worse, if 24 of your raid group is waiting on you to start an encounter. Other than the 50 gold cost to unlearn your talent points, you will most likely have to buy 3 additional glyphs. So here are some of the things that I do to cut time and cost (to a certain degree) with this whole re-spec business.

-Browse the AH regularly for glyphs. New inscribers are leveling up and they always try to sell their glyphs in the AH for less than the market price. Since I joined the guild, I only use 3 restoration glyphs and 3 balance glyphs. It used to be those 6 and 3 additional feral glyphs. I stack about 3-4 of each in my bank. Better yet, if you have an inscriber friend, ask them to CoD them to you. Ask for a lower cost. Tell them what’s low in your inventory and reap the benefit of repeat customer discount.

-Use the addon called Talented. This is a must for anybody that re-spec on a regular basis. You can have multiple specs saved for your class and your alt class. You can import from outside talent calculator, you can even copy other player’s in-game talent tree.
What’s awesome about this addon is after you unlearn all of your talent you can click a button to implement whichever saved talent tree you pick as your talent. You do not need to manually click the square and you do not have to memorize or look for that print out of a talent tree. The addon does all of that from your saved spec. This eliminates the ‘miss-click’ incident that costs us an additional 50g.

-Contrary to popular believe that the fastest way to re-spec is not to teleport to Moonglade. Let me explain why Moonglade is not the best place to re-spec. To be able to re-spec properly, you will need a class trainer, you will need access to your bank (for gear and glyphs) and/or an auction house, and you will need access to a lexicon of power. Moonglade only have a trainer. The others are located in major cities. So if you have the choice (a mage or warlock in your group) go to a major city with all 3 of the components in it.
Darnasus have a good route if you are being teleported by a mage or if you take the portal from Dalaran. I typically hit the bank in the center for my gear and glyphs, then I swing to the trainer on the side, and continue the loop up to the lexicon of power. SW is a little bit spread out since you’re teleported in the middle of the AH/bank and the trainer.
